UPDATE: Govt to Suspend Cash for Clunkers Program (Obama asked Lawmakers for another 2 billion bill)

Congressional officials say the government plans to suspend the popular “cash for clunkers” program amid concerns it could quickly use up the $1 billion in rebates for new car purchases.

The Transportation Department called congressional offices late Thursday to alert them to the decision to halt the program, which offered owners of old cars and trucks $3,500 or $4,500 toward a new, more fuel-efficient vehicle. Read More From Source

  1. How could they have miscaculated so badly with a relatively small program such as this? Then again, look at everything else they’ve miscalculated.

  2. And have you notice the pictures of the cars that has been turned in at some auto dealers, they look as if they were not good enough to be on the road in the first place, some looks at if they had been wrecked. How will the government know what condition they were in when turned in? Think the dealers won’t lie about it to sell more cars?
