UPDATED – Nationwide Chicago Tea Party” to protest the Obama Administration’s bailout plan.

Stimulus protesters rally at the Gateway Arch

A large crowd braved chilly temperatures downtown today to protest President Barack Obama’s stimulus program and to throw tea into the Mississippi River.
The gathering was organized by several local conservatives, who estimated the showing at more than 1,000 people. There was no official crowd estimate, but the gathering filled roughly one fourth of the grand staircase from the Gateway Arch grounds down to the levee.

Smart Girl Politics says: Most people aren’t hurting yet. At last not to the point they are prepared to make personal sacrifice to save our country. Most people don’t really understand or are not aware of the real and present danger we are facing. Many are still flush with their excitement of the new cool dude President. Others just don’t think about it one way or the other. People are generally concerned with their own lives than they are with the bigger picture.

My fear is that we aren’t quite ready for the Tea Party. I fear we’ll be forced to fall down before the average person is ready to stand up to ‘The Man’ and tell him (them) ‘No taxation without representation’ as our forefathers did. We aren’t quite ready to experience sacrifice that isn’t forced upon us.

My fear is that there will be a lot more loss, suffering and big government infringing on our lives before a real grass roots effort to stop the bleeding will take effect. My hope is that it won’t be too late and we will be able to salvage our country before so much damage is done that the cure entail enormous sacrifice and pain.

Tea Parties are planned in 20 cities across the country this weekend. The weekend tea party schedules are below, thanks to Little Miss Attila. Read more here

  1. Well, noon EST on Friday February 27 has come and gone, and the world still revolves.

MSNBC reports that “about 30” protesters showed up in Jacksonville.

    Whoop de freakin’ doo

  2. Michelle Malkin posted:
I’m at the DC Tea Party protest in Lafayette Park. Several hundred taxpayers are here to show their opposition to the spendalooza in Washington, D.C. as part of the nationwide demonstrations.

    Also Michelle malkin Posted:
I’ve got tons of photos and e-mails pouring in from Tea Party people across the country. I joked to a Christian Science Monitor reporter covering the events that fiscal responsibility is the new counterculture. More coverage/photos/livestreaming at TCOT Report.

So larrys you still not getting it are you? Die hard Obama fans like you will stick with him no matter what he does, wrong or not!

  3. Hmmm….Who to believe? The “tingle up my leg” MSN-BS or Michelle Malkin?
I’ll have to go with Michelle and SmartGirl!

  4. Even a “couple hundred” means little. And one should probably divide Malkin’s estimates in half. She’s probably seeing double thanks to whatever chemical substances she ingests.

  5. You were trying to lie for your buddy Barack and got caught again larrys, you’re making a total fool out of yourself for him! I would not put myself that low. Obama isn’t worth supporting!
38% of the nation’s voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. You need to work alot harder for Barack larrys, he is falling fast!

  6. What are you looking at? 68% approve of Obama, and only 25% disapprove. You cherry pick numbers to support your assertions, which are way off base. But heck, go for it. It’s kind of fun to hear the shrillness and desperation in your words.

  7. It’s a Rasmussen poll from a week ago.

Btw, at the one-month mark, Gallup says that the O’s approval rating has been bested only by one recent president … Jimmy Carter.

  8. Here’s the latest from Rasmussen. The “approval index” has declined from 10 to 8. “Strong approval” still stuck at 38.

Nice picture of Obie, don’t you think? The kind eyes, the confident smile … reminds me of Jimmy Carter, in a way.
