A mere 24 hours ago, Guantanamo Bay detainee Binyam Mohamed landed in England at 8:30 EST – a free man

Binyam Mohamed

Binyam Mohamed

Guantanamo Bay detainee Binyam Mohamed is a dangerous al-Qaeda terrorist and should have been kept in custody to protect our country and our allies. Mohamed, a detainee since 2004, has admitted to training at various Al-Qaeda training camps, where he specialized in firearms and explosives. He is accused of plotting a series of attacks on the United States with Jose Padilla (The Dirty Bomber) and Khalid Sheik Mohammed (Mastermind behind 9/11). The British government has indicated that upon his arrival in England, he is not expected to be arrested. His release has left America and its allies less safe and less secure.

If you believe that dangerous detainees should not be released from Guantanamo Bay if they still pose a threat to the United States and its allies, then we need your support. Please sign the below petition to keep Mohamed’s friends behind bars and keep our country safe. Military Families United will present this petition to the President and urge him to stop freeing terrorists.

  1. Attorney General Holder is finding out that closing gitmo may not be such a great idea after all. Wonder who else will get away though?

  2. Wonder where Obama was when President Bush was trying to find ways to shut down gitmo? Oh thats right Obama was campaigning for president and did not spend anytime at all in the senate so that he would know what was going on in this country. He’s still campaigning as he has spented very little time at the White House, over exposed I would say!

  3. President Bush wanted to close down Gitmo?

Aren’t you supposed to start that with “Once upon a time…” and end it with “… and they all lived happily ever after”?

President Bush said Wednesday that he’d like to close the U.S. military-run prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where three detainees committed suicide Saturday. He said he was awaiting a Supreme Court decision about how terrorism suspects there could be tried. “I’d like to close Guantanamo, but I also recognize that we’re holding some people there that are darn dangerous and that we better have a plan to deal with them in our courts,” Bush said at a news conference in the White House Rose Garden.

It was the second time in recent weeks that Bush has said he hoped to eventually shut down the prison, where 460 mostly Muslim foreigners are being held as unlawful enemy combatants. USA TODAY
